The holiday season is truly here. December means a few things to me. One, my mother will be playing Christmas music 24/7 as long as possible. Two, I'm off school for three weeks. Thirdly, it's the perfect time to curl up in a blanket on the couch with a mug of hot tea and watch holiday movies. Here are some of my favorite holiday movies.
1. Christmas with the Kranks
I, without fail, watch this movie every year. It's about a family, the Kranks, who are known for their Christmas celebrations. But after their one and only daughter leaves the nest and goes oversees, they decide not to celebrate the holidays and take a cruise instead. It's full of laughs as you watch this couple try their best to avoid the Christmas celebrations.
2. Daddy's Home
This one may not be for the whole family. I went with my mother to see it around Christmas the year it came out. It's pretty funny as it follows a man who's the stepfather to two kids as their real father comes back for the holidays.
3. Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas
This one I just think is a classic. It's funny and a nice take on Dr. Seuss' book. It's basically about a Who girl trying to fill the town's Christmas Scrooge with holiday cheer.
4. The Family Stone
I love this movie. When I watched it as a kid, I didn't like it as much as I do now that I've grown up. It's basically about a group of grown children coming back to their parents' home for Christmas. Warning though, it's a tear jerker.
5. Home Alone
This is one is merely on the list because it's tradition. It's something that I watch every year with my family that I don't mind watching. This one is basically about a boy who gets forgotten at home while his family is preparing a holiday trip to Paris.
