Michael Jackson, the Beatles, Elvis Presley. These names are recognizable by people of all ages. What do they all have in common? They were able to be remembered by generations. Who from our time now will have that same effect? Can they have the same effect? Some artists are headed in that direction.
1. Beyoncé
She’s a 22 time GRAMMY award winning artist. In 2015 and 2017, Forbes put her as the most powerful female in entertainment.
2. Kanye West
West is tied (with JAY-Z) for top GRAMMY winning rap artist. He has also been twice named on TIME’s 100 most influential people in the world.
3. Bruno Mars
Aside from his moves, he’s sold over hundreds of millions of records around the world. He got his first five singles faster than any male artist since Elvis Presley.
4. Rihanna
My favorite artist on this list. Not only is she the most streamed female artist on Spotify but she also was ranked number four on Forbes’ list of most powerful celebrities.
5. Arcade Fire
This indie rock band released their debut album “Funeral” which quickly became critically acclaimed and won them nominations as well as awards throughout the years.
6. Drake
Most recently he became the first male artist in history to keep more than one single at number one for more than 10 weeks on the Hot 100.
7. Kendrick Lamar
Like others on this list, he was named on one of the 100 most influential people in the world by TIME in 2016. His album “To Pimp a Butterfly” won the GRAMMY award for best rap album.
There are plenty of artists who have the opportunity to make their mark but will they be able to stand the test of time?
