7 Muggle Struggles All Non-Wizards Must Face

The side effects of not getting your Hogwarts letter when you turned eleven.

If you're a Potter-Head like me, you have to live with the sad fact that you'll never be a wizard every day. And if that wasn't enough, you also have to deal with daily inconveniences, no matter how small, that you know could be so easily remedied if you had only gotten your Hogwarts letter at 11.

1. The fact that “Accio” isn’t a thing IRL.

Lost your keys? Or left the TV remote on the other side of the room? We’ve all been there. While “Accio” just might the most useful spell in the wizarding world, it doesn’t apply to us. Sorry, friend.

2. Actually, not having magic for any little inconvenience is pretty annoying.

If only I could magic my (non-existing) glasses to repair, or "scourgify" all of those dirty dishes in the sink. *sigh*

3. Using “Lumos” and “Nox” to use your phone’s flashlight, but it truly isn’t the same thing.

In case anyone with an Android didn’t know, you can use these two spells to turn your flashlight on thanks to Google Assistant (try it and thank me later). As fun as it is, it slowly turns into a reminder that you’ll never be a real wizard.

4. Not being able to have a pet owl.

I mean, technically you could, if owls are legal pets in your state (Are they legal in any state? Asking for a friend.) But they aren’t very practical pets, as they sadly cannot be your personal mailmen.

5. Having to take Muggle transportation.

Let’s face it: we’d all enjoy our commutes way more if we could show up to work/school by broom or Flying Ford Anglia instead of a plain old car or bike. I’d even take the Knight Bus over regular public transportation.

6. Having to study boring Muggle subjects.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m very lucky to be studying what I love (as everyone should). However, if I was given the chance to learn Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts, well, peace out college.

And finally,

7. Trying to get to Platform 9 3/4 and getting a nice black-eye in the process.

Yeah … I shouldn’t have to tell anyone not to try this … but don’t. You’ll just look silly and probably get super hurt.

If anyone out there understands why I kept this listicle to seven items: You're awesome and never stop geeking out to Harry Potter!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
