TBA Brooklyn and Webster Hall hosted MSTRKRFT (pronounced, MasterKraft) this weekend in New York City. Their Friday show at TBA Brooklyn in Williamsburg brought a crowd eager to party and listen to MSTRKRFT's cool new electronica music they debuted live earlier this year at SXSW or South by Southwest, an annual film, music, and interactive media festival in Texas.
A converted garage turned into a nightclub and coffeehouse, TBA Brooklyn is a great venue to experience Williamsburg nightlife. It was created by "veterans of New York's bar, club and underground party scene", and it carries the underground vibe of NYC, for sure. Hipsters, artists, the alternative-minded, people from different NYC communities, and all kinds of cool people from overseas made a small party on Friday and got free drinks featuring Smirnoff vodka from 6-9 P.M., courtesy of the venue.
MSTRKRFT is electronica music duo from Toronto, Canada. Created by Jessie F. Keeler from the rock band Death from Above 1979 and Alex Puodziukas (AI-P) from the alternative, electropop Ontario pop group, Girlsareshort. They released the singles "Easy Love" and "Work On You" before their first LP release in 2006. Since then, MSTRKRFT has found some great successes, with their music being featured in video games like Injustice: Gods Among Us, Saints Row 2, Need for Speed: Pro Street, and the movies, Meet the Spartans and Lesbian Vampire Killers. They have been featured at various radio shows and music festivals, and have collaborated and made remixes with John Legend, Ghostface Killah, N.O.R.E., Katy Perry, Wolfmother, Bloc Party, Kylie Minogue, Lil' Mo, and many others. Their music is considered to be one of the indicators of a joining between EDM and hip-hop. With their custom set-up of analog machines and synths Keeler and AI-P created, MSTRKRFT live-streamed their set at TBA in a private Mixmag Lab NYC event for their new album, Operator.

The crowd was amped up as they listened to MSTRKRFT jam, and MSTRKRFT was jamming. No one was without a drink and people were vibing to ill rhythms and beats, which are definitely unique to MSTRKRFT. The beat dropped several times to the delight of the dancers, the live streamers, the photographers, everybody. It was a party at TBA Brooklyn on Friday with MSTRKRFT.
