The Mueller Report Is Finally Here And It's Time To Move On

There was no Russian collusion, and the media lied to us for two years. It's time to move on.

The Mueller Report Is Finally Here And It's Time To Move On

On Sunday, March 24th Robert Mueller delivered his report of an investigation that lasted 22 months and cost american taxpayers $40 million. Over that period, the left-wing media had all but convinced us that President Donald Trump had, in fact, colluded with Russia to steal the 2016 election. A charge that likely would have ignited the beginning of World War III had it been true. What could be seen as more of an act of war than installing the president of the United States? For 22 months we were fed a constant beam of Trump-Russia jokes and falsities from the media. According to polls, 40 percent of Americans believe that the presidency was stolen via collusion. With no evidence. This was a direct attempt at trying to remove a democratically elected president because one side could not cope with the results of the 2016 election.

The investigation regarding The President was on two fronts. For collusion with the Russian government, and for obstruction of justice. On collusion, Attorney General William Barr's summary states: "The Special Counsel's investigation did not find that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election. As the report states: "[T]he investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities."" This is a total and clear exoneration of Donald Trump from any accusations of collusion. However, the investigation into obstruction of justice returned an unclear verdict, stating "The Special Counsel therefore did not draw a conclusion - one way or the other – as to whether the examined conduct constituted obstruction. Instead, for each of the relevant actions investigated, the report sets out evidence on both sides of the question and leaves unresolved what the Special Counsel views as "difficult issues" of law and fact concerning whether the President's actions and intent could be viewed as obstruction. The Special Counsel states that "while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him."" meaning we will have to wait until the full report is released to congress, at that time congress will have to decide whether or not there is enough evidence to push forward with an indictment on obstruction charges.

According to the Department of Justice, the full report is set to be released in "Weeks, not months." while they make the necessary redactions. To the dismay of many democrats, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blocked a vote that would have released the full report immediately with no redactions which would actually be illegal. In William Barr's summary itself it is mentioned that the report is subject to the Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure, stating "Based on my discussions with the Special Counsel and my initial review, it is apparent that the report contains material that is or could be subject to Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 6(e), which imposes restrictions on the use and disclosure of information relating to "matter[s] occurring before [a] grand jury."" meaning that there is sensitive information in the report about ongoing trials and therefore if it was released in its entirety it would instantly compromise those court cases and, thus, will have to be redacted before the public can access it. The vote to release the report when fully redacted passed with 420 votes for and 0 votes against and the President himself has also requested it be released, any accusations of McConnell hiding the report are a smear attempt at best.

The full summary by AG William Barr can be viewed here.

Now that the investigation has concluded and the report is soon to be public, it is time that we as a people move on from this incident altogether. This will continue to be a stain on American history as long as we give it airtime, and we have to make sure this does not happen again, to either side.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
