Sometimes you are on top of the world. Everything that comes your way, every obstacle small or large, you easily accomplish. But sometimes, this is not the case. It seems as if you just can not win. Everything that can go wrong is going wrong. Everyone has been there at some point. Yet when it happens to ourselves, it seems easy to believe something is wrong with us or that we are just not good enough to accomplish everything.
So how do you overcome the difficulties? How do you find motivation when everything is a mess?
The first step is acknowledging that you still are a person capable of great things even if you may not feel like it. Change your mindset from I can not do everything to I am able and will find a way to tackle what lies ahead.
Next, start practicing better time management skills. Time management is a very common struggle among college students, and if you think about it, then you would see how this makes sense. You are no longer in school eight hours Monday through Friday, and most likely you are not as active in extracurricular activities as you used to be. Hence, the illusion of tremendous spare time where you can go out, hang out with friends, go to sports events, etc.
However, in order for you to be able to tackle the mountain ahead of you, you must set aside time to get what you need done. This time that you set for schoolwork needs to be spaced out and would be best if it was set for a designated time versus when you feel like it. Because let's be honest, you will not feel like it all the time, but it must still get done.
Most importantly, know that what you are hoping to accomplish is worth it. If you do not know why you should keep going, think about would you be happy if you stopped? How would stopping hinder what you hope to accomplish?
Dig deep and you will figure out why accomplishing these tasks matters so much to you. Then when you feel like giving up, use these newly found reasons to propel you forward. After all, no growth or progress will come without effort first being placed on what you desire to complete.
