It was recently announced that Mother Teresa's official canonization date has been set for September 4. Mother Teresa was born in Macedonia and became a nun at only 17 years old. She was later sent to Calcutta, where she left the convent to care for the sick and dying in the streets. She has been my role model and inspiration since I was a kid, as she has been for many others, and I know her being celebrated as an official Catholic saint will bring joy to many! In honor of these events, this article will be dedicated to her and some of her most inspirational words.
The following is a list of a few of the most beautiful things ever spoken by Mother Teresa:
"If we pray, we will believe; If we believe, we will love; If we love, we will serve."
"Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal."
"Pain and suffering have come into your life, but remember pain, sorrow, suffering are but the kiss of Jesus – a sign that you have come so close to Him that He can kiss you."
"I am not sure exactly what heaven will be like, but I know that when we die and it comes time for God to judge us, he will not ask, ‘How many good things have you done in your life?’ rather he will ask, ‘How much love did you put into what you did?"
"People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway."
"A life not lived for others is not a life."
"When Mother Teresa received the Nobel Prize, she was asked, “What can we do to promote world peace?” She answered “Go home and love your family."
"I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples."
"Humility is the mother of all virtues; purity, charity and obedience. It is in being humble that our love becomes real, devoted and ardent. If you are humble nothing will touch you, neither praise nor disgrace, because you know what you are. If you are blamed you will not be discouraged. If they call you a saint you will not put yourself on a pedestal."
"Prayer is the mortar that holds our house together."
"If you judge people, you have no time to love them."
"Even if you’re on the right rack, you’ll get run over if you just sit there."
"When you have nothing left but God, you have more than enough to start over again."
