We all want every day to be a good day, so why not try to make it happen? These are five things I try to do every day to make even the bad days a little better.

1. Make your favorite coffee

Because is by far my favorite part of the day. The act of making my coffee has a way of relaxing me and it helps me have some time to mentally prepare for the day ahead. And if you don't drink coffee maybe try having some tea or a smoothie.

2. Take a shower

We all know that maintaining good hygiene is common sense. But, if you’re the kind of person who takes their showers at night, maybe try waking up a little earlier and opting for a morning shower. This doesn’t sound ideal, but it tends to wake me up every morning and helps me start my day feeling refreshed. It also gives me a few minutes to allow me to clear my mind and relax.

3. Make an uplifting playlist

Music has the amazing power to change our moods from negative to positive. So, why not try incorporating it into your morning routine? I always like to have my favorite songs play while I’m getting ready, showering, and on my way to school. Start your day off with a positive note!

4. Light a candle

This sounds a bit random but I always love to do this while I'm getting ready. I love to make my space smell good and create a place that makes me feel good and that puts me in a good mood. Obviously, pick out your favorite scent and you will be surprised how happy it can make you.

5. Wake up earlier

You probably think I sound crazy but I have nothing but good things to say about this. Waking up earlier has made me a lot more productive and puts me in a relaxing mood. It gives me more time to do some extra studying or take my time getting ready. And if you’re not a morning person, try waking up at least 15 minutes before you usually do, then work your way up from there!

Starting my day off by doing these five things have made my mornings and days a lot more enjoyable. And if you're in college, I am sure that you can definitely benefit from incorporating one of these into your routine. Because we all know that we need all of the positivity we can get in college.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
