With the introduction of film and television streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Video, people have been watching getting their fill of nonstop entertainment. These three streaming services have a nearly unlimited amount of movies and television shows from different genres.
One problem about viewing something on a streaming service, is that the large quantity of options makes choosing something to watch more difficult.
However, for fans of comedy, Seeso might be a part of the solution.
Seeso is a new streaming service that focuses on providing audiences with laughs and a variety of comedy options.
Since it’s start in early 2016, Seeso has been streaming episodes from shows like “Parks and Recreation, “ “The Office” and “30 Rock” and open availability to episodes of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and “Saturday Night Live” the day after they premiere.
For fans of stand up comedy, Seeso also features sets from Amy Schumer, Chelsea Peretti, Jeff Dunham and many more.
Seeso also has programming for individuals that are fans of comedy from across the pond, including the original UK version of “The Office” and “The IT Crowd.”
Like Netflix and Hulu, Seeso streams original content as well. “Bajillion Dollar Propertie$,” “Hidden America with Jonah Ray” and the “UCB Show” are a few of the many original series that Seeso provides.
“Bajillion Dollar Propertie$,” follows a group of ambitious real estate agents as they attempt to become of partner of their mysterious boss, Dean Rosedragon, who is portrayed by comedian Paul F. Tompkins. In order to achieve their goals, the agents try to sell as many luxury homes as possible. The buying and selling of homes allows the agents to bring in several hilarious clients.
Another Seeso original, “Hidden America with Jonah Ray,” has the audience follow comedian Jonah Ray as he films a fake travel show across the United States. While visiting the different cities, Ray explores dives into the culture and history of the cities in a bizarre way.
In the premiere episode about Boston, Ray finds himself sparring against Chazz Duffy, a parody of “Diners, Drive- Ins and Dives” host Guy Fieri, after they both realize they are filming their travel shows in the same historic pub.
Along with showcasing stand up comedy and programs that follow the traditional sitcom format, Seeso also provides original, must watch material for fans of sketch comedy.
“The UCB Show,” is a Seeso original program that features sketch and stand up comedy performed at the UBC theaters in New York and Los Angeles. The show is hosted by Upright Citizens Brigade co-founders Matt Besser, Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts and Matt Walsh.
Besides having laugh out loud comedy content, Seeso is also convenient and easy to sign up for.
Seeso subscriptions are available for $3.99 a month, and apps for phones and tablets can be found on iTunes and Google Play. For people who are members of Amazon Prime, you can sign up for Seeso through your Amazon account as an add on subscription. Each Seeso account stars with a month long free-trial before the payment kicks in.
Seeso’s recent initiation into the world of binge watching and streaming has been an entertaining treat for comedy fans and breath of fresh air for the streaming industry.
The introduction of a comedy specific platform opens up the opportunity for other companies to create content streaming programs that are specific to other genres, like drama, mystery or science fiction.
The process of television and program watching has changed dramatically within the last decade. Over the years, technology has developed ways to watch programming that focuses on serving the audience, instead of appealing to studios and executives, and Seeso is a continuation of this nonstop evolution.
