"God only gives us what we can handle." This statement is used all of the time but is contracted in the Bible.
If this was true, we wouldn't need a powerful and vast God. We would be able to do the hardest things on our own and would be okay.
But...
He loves us so much that He can and will give us things that we CANNOT handle.
He wants us to trust Him in our unknowing because He is ALL-KNOWING.
He desires us to seek Him, cling onto him and rest in His truth for us daily.
He wants us to be uncomfortable in this world because we can find supernatural comfort in His promises.
He knows how to keep us safe because He knows us better than we do ourselves. Our trust gives Him the power to make our weaknesses His strengths.
Isaiah 41:10-- So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
1 Chronicles 16:11-- Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.
Isaiah 40:29-- He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Deuteronomy 31:6,8-- Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."
2 Corinthians 12:9-- But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
Never in the Bible does it say that we, on our own, have the strength for what life has to throw at us.
The Bible actually describes the opposite He is our strength because our human strength pales in comparison.
His invitation is for us to depend on His strength.
Stagnant and undisturbed water has no power.
You only see moving streams with rocks, whether that's underneath or on the sides, right?
Without movement, it becomes a swamp or pond.
Those rocks help the momentum of the stream. Those rocks give the water power as the water beats against the rocks to gain speed.
Without obstacles, rocks, in our life, there will be no power. Our life will be stagnant. No growth. No momentum.
We need those obstacles, and we need the Lord to help us get through those obstacles.
Those rocks might seem big but take a new perspective.
Tell your obstacles how big your God is instead of telling God how big your obstacles are.
The corrosion from the powerful water running over the rock smooths the edges.
Let Him smooth those jagged rocks by letting Him use your obstacles to empower you instead of sink you.
Remember, endurance and perseverance with the Lord stem from suffering and fighting against "our rocks."
Instead of letting your obstacles drag you down, give them to the Lord who can turn them into catalysts for momentum and purpose.
