Dogs are great, and puppies are even better. There are so many wonderful things that occur when one has a dog. They are man's best friend for a reason, and they make life wonderful. If you need another reason to have a dog here's a few.
1. They Relieve Stress
If you have never petted and hugged your dog after a long work day (yes I have done this) I am in sorrow over you. Sure, there are other ways to relieve stress and have a better day, but petting your dog and watching them run to you after a long day of work or school is the best. According to Peteducation.com people who grow up with pets or who own them are less likely to have depression and suffer from it. Having to take a care of a dog forces you to take the dogs out on walks and be active, which boosts your mood. It increases your mood because your brain releases Oxycontin, which makes you feel better.
2. They bring people closer together
According to Drs. Foster & Smith Educational Staff having a dog brings families closer together, and families that have dogs are shown to be happier. People are more inclined to have interactions with each other if there is a dog present in the room. Also, people who own dogs are inclined to be pretty excited about it, and so they talk about it, which includes people in the conversation and it brings people closer together.
3. They are affirming
Okay, it sounds crazy but dogs are loyal creatures who will always follow you around and wait for you to come home and get excited when they meet a stranger. In a way, it's a little affirming. I have a Boston Terrier who use to look out the window and watch me whenever I would leave my home and go to school. He would also follow me to the door whenever I would leave, and it's really affirming. Dogs are the kind of animals that will always love you no matter what.
4. They're good with children
Kids, in a lot of the ways we do, love animals and feel a sense of closeness to dogs. They make perfect companions for children and improve the mental health of kids. They also help with the immunity development of kids. Since they carry bacteria, kids are exposed to it, and they develop immunity from the bacteria. So not only do they prevent your kids from getting sick, but they are the most lovable sidekicks for your children.
5. They love unconditionally
You step on their paw and they still love you. They craw up beside you whenever you are working on that paper. They are literally some of the most lovable animals.
Dogs are kind animals and having them as pets can make a world of difference in your emotional health and overall well being.
