I was chatting with two of my good friends the other day and we began discussing our future careers. We were talking about our interests but mostly about the salary attached to those careers; that is when it hit us, what would we want to be doing for the rest of our lives if money was no option?
If we did not have this pressure to make money, enough money to survive and pay off our student loans, then we would have complete freedom to live our lives. I know if I could pick a career and succeed in it, without the worry of not receiving enough payment to live an enjoyable life, then I would be an actress the rest of my life. There is no other feeling like being on stage, so that is what I would devote my energies to.
It is great to say that you will choose what you love as your career, but everyone recognizes that there is always an underlying stress on the compensation aspect of jobs. No one does their job for free just for the love of it, they do it to get paid. Sure, choosing a career which you are interested in and find exciting will help to motivate you to do your best work, but often it is money which drives you to a certain field.
If money really had no bearing, what would you choose to be?
