Mom,
I remember when I was younger, and I would have to write papers about who my role model was. I would write about you back then because I looked up to you so much back then. Being 21 years old and away at college, I still feel this way that. You and all moms are some of the most influential people out in this world, and this article is written to you.
During all of our phases in life, whether as screaming toddler who didn't want to be left, a thirteen-year-old filled with teen angst, or a young adult starting on a new path. You were always there, no matter how painful or emotional the experience was. You tried your best to wipe our tears away before you left when we were little, you tried to figure who we are when we're emotional teenagers, and you cheer us on while we start our new adventures. Being a mom is hard work, you try to balance your work, keeping the house not a mess, and making sure the kids don't hurt each other. Being a mom is just a giant juggling act hoping to make sure nothing drops. You work so hard, and a lot of times us kids don't appreciate or even notice the things you do.
As I have gotten older and have lived away from home for little bits of times, I have realized just how strong you are, mom. You live so selflessly, everything decision you make you are in the best hope for the family. Whether it is trying to pick a vacation or a restaurant for our Sunday lunch, you always think of family first. You have dedicated so much time to make sure Ryan, Josh, and I had the best things in life. From helping me study for spelling tests in 4th grade, playing catch in middle school, or wiping away my tears after a boy would break my heart, you have always been there for me through the thick and thin. You have forgiven me when I had a bad attitude and took things out to you, even though I knew I shouldn't have.
I know you might not always feel it, but you are one of the most beautiful women in the world. You have so much love in your eyes, and your smile can light up a room wherever you go. Your hair might not always be "perfect" and be frizzy on humid days, but your beauty is incomparable, and you deserve to know that. Beauty is not just about your appearance; you have a pure and loving heart. You are filled with beauty inside and out. I am not embarrassed when people say how much we look alike; I know how much of a compliment this means. Mom, you are beautiful.
I hope I can be like you not only as a mom but as well as a woman as I grow older. To live with a kind heart, forgiving soul, but also knowing I deserve the best in life. You have been my best friend since I was young and you will be for the rest of time. Thank you, mom, for everything you have done and continue to do for all of us. I always look forward to your hugs, life talks, and your homemade tater tot casserole.
