Mom,
Happy Mother's Day! I'm sorry I can't be home to give you a sappy, sentimental card---but I think that a letter telling the world how much I love you and how great you are is a lot more unique anyways! Also, there's not nearly enough room on a four by six card to say all I need to!
First, I want to say thank you. Thank you for your continued selflessness and for continuously busting your butt for those you love (and even those you don't)! Thank you for this opportunity to expand my knowledge across the world. Today is the day (along with many others) that you are required to take time for yourself---yes, required! Your happiness is just as important as other peoples'. So take the time to destress, by getting a massage, a manicure, or a trip to the beach.
As a daughter of such an amazing mother, I want to say I'm sorry for all of the times where I have been impatient and short of my love, and I'm sorry for any moments that I have seemed ungrateful. I appreciate all the reminders on the kitchen table, the insistence on packing my bags for me and constant nagging to keep up on my work even though it may not seem so right away.
So thank you for being the most amazing mother. I wish I could be there to give you a hug and a kiss and nicely cooked dinner. I love you most of all!
Love,
C
