An Open Letter To The Mom That Was Also My Dad

Dear Mom,

Not only have you been my rock when feeling like I have no one, my second half, best friend, but someone I knew I always had right by my side through anything and everything.

Thank you for watching my sports events.

Thank you for taking me on Mommy and Me dates.

Thank you for being my date to all parent events.

Thank you for being the light of all my days.

You not only were my mom that cooked meals, knew the girl secrets, did my hair, but you were the father that supported me, gave me advice, supported everything I did day in and day out. Whether it was 3 a.m., or in the middle of the day, there was never a time that I didn't have a listening ear, open arms, and a loving smile to cheer me up. You wiped all my tears, picked me up when I fell, and best of all knew what I had to offer even when I didn't. There was never a moment, second or day that passed where I felt alone, empty or worthless because you fulfilled all of it with your unconditional love, support, and faith in my future not only the things I would do but the things that I would become.

I just want you to know that I see you as a warrior that is put together of strength, courage, determination, loyalty and the purest of beauty that one individual could have.

You taught me that your trials don't crush you, they create you into who you are meant to be. And for this, I could never thank you enough for all that you have done and continue to do for me. I am so proud to call you the woman that took on dual titles in my life, because now I know I can do all things that come my way.

Thank you, Mom.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
