Moms. What would we do without them? This past weekend, my sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, celebrated Mom’s Weekend, and it reminded me of all the reasons why moms are the best, especially when they are also your best friend.
Moms are the most understanding people, and because of this, they are super helpful too. They have pretty much always been there and done that, and are always the wiser one in the pair. She is always supportive and wants to help you do and be your best. And to do that, she gives you the best advice to all your problems. Sometimes that advice can be hard to take, but you know it's always for your best interest. She will see a problem through to the end with you, helping you as much as possible.
Moms love you and literally have the hardest time finding fault in you. They always believe in you and encourage you to go after your dreams no matter what they are, and are super upset on your behalf if you don’t get that job, grade, friend, officer position, etc. that you wanted. Plus, when you’re filling out those applications and can’t think of a single cool, interesting, and good thing you’ve done, moms are there to remind you with a 20-page list.
Moms love every part of you. They are the people who, at the end of the day, are always interested in what’s going on in your life. Who set aside work and time to ask about you and take care of you, no matter what the distance between you is. She is your ultimate support system and just wants what’s best for you. Moms think about all the little things and care about whether you’re eating enough, are healthy, are having fun, and are doing well in school. She wants to help you achieve all the things you want to achieve and she will do it as best she can despite the fact that she can’t be there with you all the time.
Moms are the reason we look forward to going home over breaks, and are the people we want to run to when we are sad or angry or happy. Moms are the single greatest thing we ever been blessed with and we are so lucky to have them. Go call your mom right now and thank her for all the little things, and the big things, she does for you.
