Being an English major, poetry is a required course to take. After reading pages and pages of dull declarations of love in vernacular I cannot understand, I took it upon myself to write my own sonnet. Not a normal sonnet, but one that is relatable and understandable: a sonnet for the people.
A smile spreads across my lips,
as I pull the cheesy love
up close and personal for a kiss.
Not a gentle press, but a shove,
I pull you in with a quick bite,
tearing gat your beautiful layers, nothing can stop my incredible might.
But, those around me object, those neigh-sayers,
Our romance is hidden,
underneath the table you rest,
since our love is forbidden.
For our future I only wish the best,
but there is definitely no denying that,
loving pizza will only make you fat.
And if I'm being honest, I'm totally ok with that!
