This Is Jesus’ Mission, Not Mine

Missions is a temporary solution in hopes that all people in all nations will come to know Christ.

This Is Jesus’ Mission, Not Mine

Being missional means placing yourself into a posture and attitude of thinking in a Christ-like manner in order to reach others with the gospel message. As people of God, we are called to complete Jesus’ mission to evangelize to all the nations.

As Christians, we are solely vessels through which Jesus will speak to those who have little to no access to the gospel. There are so many countries, including America, filled with people who are broken and in need of an unfailing hope and Savior.

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” - Matthew 24:14

Without a doubt, it is extremely difficult to carry out this missional lifestyle, but find hope and strength in the fact that Jesus prevails. In Revelations, we see that Jesus is victorious over Satan and that His mission has been carried out. Because God is an omnipotent, victorious God, we, as his missionaries, will NEVER fail.

I’ve been struggling with this concept for quite some time. It’s difficult for me to grasp that the good work is finished through Jesus. But, this is HIS mission—not mine. Mission trips and being missional are ways to glorify JESUS, not me. This is not about me, but this is about spreading GOD’s Word throughout all the nations in hope that we will all be saved through Jesus.

It’s God’s desire and His mission for all people to be saved, so we must also have this heart for all people to be saved, including your neighbors, classmates, roommates, and family. Sharing the gospel is definitely frightening, but I hope that Christians, including myself, have confidence that God will provide.

For me, I honestly still lack this confidence, and I think this reflects the fragility of my prayer life and my relationship with God, but I think the first step in fixing my mindset on Christianity is to acknowledge my weaknesses and, therefore, my need for God.

As Christians, we are called to say that God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to save sinners, and we are called to spread the good news that our Father has RISEN and is VICTORIOUS in all things.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” -Matthew 28:19-20

If you are going on missions, please remember that this is all for Jesus’ glory and His mission. Those who are sending people to go on missions, sacrifice your time, money, or other resources to send these servants of God to preach the gospel to those who have yet to hear or know it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
