Living in a dorm is a right of passage for college students. It's your first taste of freedom and the first place that you'll ever live on your own. While the novelty of living in a glamorized shoebox and sharing a shower with so many people that it should be illegal, there are some things that you're guaranteed to miss once you move on and live in an apartment.

1. Always having a friend around

While the noise and lack of privacy may have gotten to you on more than one occasion, knowing that there was always someone to hang out or get food with was a huge plus.

2. Meal plans

Living on campus means having an unlimited meal plan. Once you move into an apartment with a kitchen you're expected to cook for yourself and only eat at the dining halls for emergencies.

3. Housekeepers

Although sharing common space with people was kind of the worst, at least those spaces were cleaned by someone else. Living on your own means that you need to clean your kitchen and bathroom yourself.

4. Buying your own things

To follow up on points 2 and 3, you'll have to buy your own groceries and buy your own bathroom supplies. So not only do you need to cook and clean up after yourself, you need to fund it, too.

5. The memories

If your dorm experience was anything like mine than you're going to miss living with a hundred of your best friends.

Enjoy your time in a dorm and don't wish it away, too much!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
