Children were ecstatic to go to an Ariana Grande concert. They were dressed up, taking pictures, buying merchandise. It was a normal night at a pop concert that turned to chaos, and it was a horrendous act brought upon these innocent children.
My heart breaks for those poor families and friends suffering from the loss of loved ones, especially the ones taken so young. This wasn't just an act of hate on Ariana Grande, but an act of hate that was released upon the masses. This didn't just affect the ones there, it affects all of humanity all around the world.
Schools aren't safe anymore, retail stores aren't safe anymore, restaurants aren't safe anymore...now concerts aren't either. This raises a fear in those children and adults there, but also around the world. Now, instead of people being able to escape their realities by going to a concert for two or three hours, they have to stand in a state of constant anxiety and fear that this may happen to them.
Nobody should have an attitude of this "not being their problem" because it's everyone's problem. We need to stop acting like we are all divided by the country we live in, the political views we hold, the race or gender we are because these things shouldn't matter in such a time of crisis. We are all humans, and all are affected by the monstrous acts of evil around us.
Now isn't the time to separate ourselves from our neighbors, now is the time to unite and stand tall in the face of danger and evil. If not for ourselves, but for the 22+ victim's who do not have the ability to stand with us now. When the innocent are attacked in such an evil manner, it shows how seriously damaged our society is. There is only one way to fix that, and by making a promise to never let this act of hate happen again is the only way.
We need to stop tearing each other down and start uniting before things can get worse. Whether or not you stand by the lawmakers of your own country, it doesn't matter what your political beliefs are- all that matters is that we need to start taking a stand for humanity as one. This isn't a situation that can be blamed on teenage children's actions or behaviors or anything of that nature. No parent deserves to bury their child, much like no child deserves to live in fear of the future and of their society.
