Grab those Sorel boots back out of your closets, Minnesotans. Snow is here again this weekend. Minnesotans have been enduring below-freezing temperatures for almost five months. All we want is spring because, with it, comes warmer weather. This seemingly never-ending winter has me wanting to leave the state altogether and flee to warmth. It’s frustrating, time-consuming and ugly. Just when temperatures reached above 40˚F this week, we found out that a winter storm meteorologists are calling “Xanto” is on its way with a potential 10 inches of snowfall in western Minnesota. Little did we know that it would break the record for the most April snowfall in history.
This past weekend showed that the snow hasn't stopped, and has me questioning if it ever will.
Although I hate snow, I do love talk-show-host, Conan O'Brien. He has some spot-on reactions that Minnesotans are currently experiencing. Here’s how Minnesotans start to feel when the meteorologists alert us that warmer weather is far from reach.
1. Congratulations, you don't live here.
Good for you, distant relative/person from middle school who I only interact on Facebook. Hope that beach is nice.
2. Finding out about the news of the snow storm.
Frustrated is an understatement. Experiencing the weather getting colder just a day after we got a taste for warm weather is heartbreaking.
3. The waterworks come out to play.
This overcast weather is depressing.
4. Personifying the snow.
It may be up to no one but Mother Nature as to when we will be graced with snowfall, but that doesn't mean Minnesotans don't develop a hateful relationship with the cold and icy stuff that covers our streets.
5. Fleeing the state.
If this doesn't end soon, we might all just ditch this state for a warmer one.
Luckily, it looks like this is the last storm for a while. The temperatures will rise according to the Weather Channel by the end of next week. Is there a fast-forward button?
