I'm from Minnesota. That should be no surprise to anyone who knows me well or to anyone who has met me once. I'm incredibly proud of my state and where I come from, but my friends here in Texas don't understand why Minnesota is so great. Well, I'm about to educate you guys on why Minnesota is a fantastic state that doesn't get enough praise.

1. We have 11,842 lakes.

It may say "Land of 10,000 Lakes" on our license plates, but Minnesota has the most lakes out of any U.S. state (although Wisconsin is going to say they have more, they're liars!). Not only do we have lots of lakes, but we know how to have a good time on them. From kayaking to pontooning, we Minnesotans know how to have a great day at the lake.

2. We have the Mall of America.

The Mall of America is not only the largest mall in the United States, but it also happens to be in Minnesota. With over 500 stores, the MOA crushes the competition.

3. We have all four seasons.

While we may be known for our brutally cold winters, Minnesota has all four seasons, and each of them is beautiful in its own way. From the leaves falling in September to the heat of July, you can find all types of weather in Minnesota.

4. We have snow!

Nothing is more beautiful than fresh snow in winter, and Minnesota has a lot of it. Whether you're making a snowman, shoveling it from your driveway, or just enjoying the view from inside, you're sure to realize how beautiful snow is.

5. Minnesota is the home of Target.

I've never met someone who doesn't love Target, and we Minnesotans love it more than most. Just like me, Target finds its home in Minnesota.

6. The Minnesota State Fair is the largest 12-day event in North America.

Sure, your state fair might be fun and all, but the Minnesota State Fair is the best, and it's the largest 12-day event in North America. With more food than you can imagine and countless exhibits spanning from agriculture to science, everyone has fun at the state fair.

7. We gave the world Prince.

Whether you love his music or not, Minnesota was home to the legendary Prince. And as someone who loves "Purple Rain," I'm extremely proud of this.

8. Our accent is amazing.

Sure, we may get confused looks when we pronounce the word "root," and we do say long "o"s in Minnesoooooota, but our accent is way better than yours.

9. We don't have a tax on clothing.

That's right: we don't have a clothing tax. That means you can buy as much as you want without paying any additional money.

10. We're the friendliest people.

We originated "Minnesota Nice" for a reason. We Minnesotans are the nicest people, and we will be nice to you... until you really make us really mad.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
