From 2018 to 2019 we saw the rise of video games such as Fortnite, PUBG, Apex Heroes, and many more. Just in case everyone forgot Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 came out last year, but to be honest, even I had to look that up since it doesn't seem to be relevant. That being said, battle royale and other free-for-all or squad strategic games became extremely popular last year and going into this year, but that was until the second rise of Minecraft.
It was honestly surprising to see various YouTubers and streamers playing the old game again. Understandably, it was the game's decade anniversary last May, but it quickly turned into something that gained a massive following again.
I remember all the old Minecraft YouTubers I watched back then such as Skydoesminecraft, Yogscast, Tobuscus on his gaming channel, and tons more that were in their prime from around 2010 to I'd say 2014. Even myself, I played Minecraft around that time as well and as the popularity of it decreased so did my interest in the game.
If not for the anniversary though, why is Minecraft getting popular again? I thought a lot of us are in it for the nostalgic aspect that the game brings back to us. The days we spent after school or on the weekends building whatever we wanted, trying to survive in a forest from monsters, or battling our friends on multiplayer servers, they were times that we cherished in our childhood once we were reminded of them, we wanted to bring them back and regain our youth.
I think in general, people realized again how great of a game Minecraft is because it is literally whatever you want to make of it. It's one of those games where your creativity can run wild and seeing how many people are getting behind it again and genuinely enjoy playing it, is something great.
