Have you ever just needed a simple break from everything? You just wanted to relax without doing anything? Or you wanted to do something, but you had no clue what? I know that feeling, as I am sure many of you do. That feeling is classified as boredom by many people, but I believe it is more like the feeling of wanting to try a new activity. For me, the activity that I tried was listening to musicals. These musicals are a way for us to escape the world and all of our problems in it, so here are 12 of the many musicals that I definitely recommend.

1. Be More Chill

"Be More Chill" is about a teen named Jeremy Heere who is completely normal and even average. This one makes me think of our lives today, as if it were in science fiction way because of the technological equipment, "Squip." However, everything changes when he finds his "Squip." A "Squip" is a tiny computer that basically promises everything that he wants, and like every teenage boy would consider, that includes a date with a girl, among other wishes.

The only problem: would the most average boy in the school be willing to take all that risk?

2. The Addams Family Musical

I am sure many of you have heard about the Addams family through the movies, but I can say that the musical has a twist of a lifetime. The comedy and funny jokes in this play are the perfect mix and still successfully make it not boring. By having this perfect mix, it's a great pick me up when needed.

We all remember Wednesday Addams, correct? Well, she is all grown up and finds someone who she loves, but he is "normal." In order to meet his parents (which has not happened yet) and let him meet her, she must go to her father. She tells him, and in order to achieve his daughter's happiness, the challenge of keeping a secret is brought upon him.

3. Heathers

"Heathers" is a twist on what should be done with the bullies in our lives. It talks about a senior whose only goal in life is to become popular, and when she successfully gets the leader of the crew "Heathers" out of trouble, the leader is impressed.

Upon getting accepted into the elite group, she finds out those who she called friends are the ones who she must bully. Little did she know that when the mysterious newcomer comes, he will use her help to get rid of them with a new twist.

4. The Book of Mormon

"The Book of Mormon" is about two priests who are on a mission to convert the people in Africa to the Mormon religion. The dynamic duo consists of one priest who is a total go-getter and another who is socially awkward. This one at least for me is funny because of the duo presented throughout the musical, I am sure you will find it funny too!

5. Newsies

"Newsies" is about a boy who comes to New York with a big dream. He is a newsboy, and when a big publishing giant comes in his way, he, along with his friends, takes action.

6. The Greatest Showman

"The Greatest Showman" is a movie musical that shows the adventure of a son of a tailor who is left penniless and has a thirst for a new innovation. This is one of my favorite ones because it is amazingly inspiring, and a true story, so it makes the experience that much better! With the help of his wife and two daughters, he successfully turns his wax museum into the "greatest show."

He also uses the peculiar people near him for his advantage, the people who one would never expect to be famous. However, when all goes great, he takes the challenge of an already-successful opera singer, causing him to put everything that he has at risk.

7. Dear Evan Hansen

"Dear Evan Hansen" is about an invisible boy who has bad anxiety, making it hard to fit in at school... or anywhere. However, the sudden death of a classmate gives him a voice he'd never known he had. Even though I have made it sound as if it is sad, the way the songs come make it so that by the end it makes everyone happy!

8. Hamilton

"Hamilton" is a simple story of amazement. Hamilton has an exquisite amount of detail with a beautiful amount of perfectionism making it my favorite of all time. It talks about the life of one of the founding fathers we learn about today, Alexander Hamilton. This musical goes through his life story and shows that life was not easy for people back then, too. It goes through his life, from when he was born, to becoming rich.

The question is, how he became rich again, and how did he make his way? Click here to find out.

9. Hairspray

"Hairspray" is the story of a girl with a big dream and the moves to become a star, but she still faces bullying. However, with the help of a select few friends, she gets through it and successfully goes above and beyond her dream!

10. Falsettos

"Falsettos" is about as modern-day as a musical can get, a funny twist on the weird side. The characters include a gay man, his wife, his soon-to-be-husband, the psychiatrist and many more who put the twist on interesting. Though this one is kind of on the sad side for me, it is interesting on how everything turns out in the end for the poor guy.

11. A Very Potter Musical

"A Very Potter Musical" is Harry Potter and his gang in action again, but this time in musical form. This time, it is about how the Dark Lord has risen from the dead with the goal to kill The Boy Who Lived. It is a thrill to see how the gang does after all these years, at least for me it was.

12. "The Percy Jackson Musical"

Do not fear, Percy Jackson fans; this one is for you! However, this one is a simple twist for Percy. Originally based on " The Lightning Thief " by Rick Riordan, in this musical, Percy finds powers that he can not control, all while finding Zeus's lightning bolt to prevent a war between the gods. I liked this musical, even though I was never the biggest Percy Jackson fan, so that is how you know that it is gonna be good.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
