So, I'm sure I'm not the first girl to wonder why guys my age don't date. I mean, why don't' guys nowadays want to take you out and get to know you? In our modern, looks -are-everything era, it seems guys in their twenties have major Tinder fever and all they want to do is Netflix and Chill. I like a good ole' movie on the couch as much as the next chick, but sometimes I want to go out, create a connection over candlelight. and fall in love the "old" way. Being the inquisitive soul that I am, I decided to utilize the good ole' googler-smoogler to figure out some possible reasons why guys don't date.
1. Bills, Bills, Bills
With the cost of living rising, an immense amount of student loans, and the decreasing rate of high-paying jobs, Millennials are broker than most other generations in modern history. According to a survey conducted by Match.com, 30% of people (ages 22 to 37) think their declining rate of romantic outings is due to their financial instability.
2. You Should Go and Love Yourself
In 2018 it was found that many Millennials are probably just making up excuses to head straight to the couch and the tv screen versus actually going out (sounds familiar, doesn't it?). Reportedly, 39% of the 18 to 25-year-olds surveyed thought relationships are just plum boring. Also, many of them feared potentially "settling" for the wrong person. Although that thought is very valid (and definitely relatable!), the reasons they break up with people, really… aren't that valid. Apparently, some of the reasons include taking food photos while on a date, disagreements about restaurants, and incompatible zodiac signs. My, how… Hipster.
3. I'm alone, but I'm not Lonely
So, this particular reason doesn't have scientific research to back it up; yet, many guys my age have said to me they just don't need the companionship of a steady partner. According to them, dating is a waste of time because they often find themselves going out with gals or guys that they don't end up having a lasting, fulfilling relationship with.
