Millennials And Loving Themselves

Most people these days struggle to love themselves.

Millennials And Loving Themselves

Learning to love yourself can honestly be one of the hardest things anyone will have to learn during their life. The millennial generation, I feel has a very hard time doing this because of all the peer pressure, social media, competition, bullying honestly the list is endless. When you love yourself you will find that doing things in life becomes easier, finding a significant other becomes easier, everything just begins to work differently.

Social media I think is the biggest problem today. Although we know that the magazines are so photo-shopped and look so fake we still believe what we see and you know whats even sadder? We think we need to look like that. We think that because we aren't skinning, or our teeth are perfectly straight and white or our boobs are to small that we aren't pretty enough, that we aren't good enough. This is not something new it has been going on for years, but it just changes over time. Let's look at Barbie, and think of her as a person, she would be a size 2 and size K boobs,6 feet tall and with 100 pounds now that is unrealistic, yet little girls look up to Barbie in one way or another, and sets unrealistic goals for young girls. Now Barbie does look a little more realistic then it did 15 years ago, but most of the millennials in their 20's played with the the Barbie I just mentioned 15 year ago.

The teenage years are the hardest part of growing up. Your hormones are all out of wack you are becoming a woman, or man you are maturing in a lot of different ways, but this is the time where a lot of insecurities set in, when we all just want to fit in and make friends. We are constantly comparing ourselves to one another even if we are unaware of doing so. Bullying rates are higher than ever and we see children taking their own lives because of it and that is most definitely NOT OK! You see these inspirational over used quote "Be yourself cause everyone is already taken" in the teenage years people want to be everyone but themselves, that want to look like that model on their favorite magazine or TV show, they want to be a part of the popular group because apparently that matters in middle school. The teenage years are the hardest years to love yourself.

Once that is all done and you get to college, none of that shit will matter anymore, everyone is starting a new chapter in their lives, so why worry about all that high school drama? You need to love yourself, you need to be happy with yourself because that makes everything better and easier in the long run.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
