Have you ever been involved in a youth group then as time went on you started fading away from the church? Many individuals that are considered to be millenials are part of the younger generation and statistics show that most young adults in the generation that was once part of a youth-group have left the church for a variety of reasons. Some of the reasons the younger adults that have grown up in the church setting tend to leave is because they are struggling to figure out who they are as individuals, they may start to question the beliefs that they once held after having the chance to go to college and experience that freedom in which they long for. Another reason why the millennial generation is leaving the church is because they do not feel that it is for them and may think it is boring. Once you grow up and get out of the youth group your friendships change and so does your relationship with one another and the relationship that you have with the Father above. The younger generation is also so distracted by their devices that it makes it harder to focus on God, and those distractions keep us rather busy. Sometimes I think many leave the church is not only a difference of opinion but how life treats us.
1. Church is boring- many children have been dragged to church their whole lives and grow up leaving because it may not interest them.
2. College- this is a reason many leave the church because if they get involved on campus and often do not choose to make time for Christ
3. Sermons are to long- I get it however when we assemble we are to serve God not ourselves
4. When life throws us curve-balls we sometimes forget who is really in charge.
5. Millenials are leaving the church because they may be unsure of what they truly believe.
6. Busy schedules- Life gets busy but can you let God have some of your time?
7. They feel like what they are learning at church is irrelevant.
8. They may not feel very welcome.
9. Growing up in a youth group because as you grow older no longer feel safe.
