Midterms have come and gone once again. I am finally free from work for a solid week! Most of my time will be dedicated to catching up on sleep from the past week. I don't think I got more than six hours of sleep each night. College is a tough time, ladies and gents, so be prepared. I have been through one other midterm week and I was still not prepared for the amount of homework I had to do. Overall, the week sucks and you just have to power through to get everything done. Here is some comic relief to relieve some of your stress.
Weekend Before
You swear you're going to attack the mound of work you have due for the next week. Next joke. Instead, you go out and party, which seems like a great idea at the time. Then Sunday comes and you realize just how screwed you are. You attempt to begin, but there is so much to do you don't know where to start. So, only Monday's homework gets done. This is just the beginning of the week from hell.
Monday
You're feeling pretty good because you've momentarily forgotten about how much you have due in the next couple of days. Even though it's Monday (gross), you think you might just survive this week in good shape. Little do you know is that last night was the most sleep you'll get in a night for another six days. Countdown: t-minus four days until break.
Tuesday
The workload is starting to hit you: you have three tests in the next two days, a lab report due, an essay due, and regular homework on top of it all. This is when you begin to contemplate your decision to spend tens of thousands of dollars on feeling like death. Tonight is when you join the no sleep club. Countdown: three more days of torture.
Wednesday
It's the halfway point and you don't know if you're going to make it to the end of the week. You're either going to drown in your own tears or in the massive amount of work that has been weighing you down all week. Either way, it would not be pleasant. Countdown: two more days that aren't coming fast enough.
Thursday
For some reason, Thursday is always the worst day. The anticipation is eating at you, but you still have so much to study for and complete. Why professors think making midterms be on Friday is a good idea, I will never know. So, you are up until 3 A.M. after completing the essay you didn't start until today and studying for the two midterms you have in the morning. The stress almost pulls you down, but you realize that you've finally made it and all your work is complete. All you have to do are those midterms. Countdown: one more day of hell.
Friday
There are a multitude of emotions that go through you today. First, you dread taking your midterms. After they're over, you swear you failed them. Then, you realize you don't care because they're finally over!
If you were like me and hadn't been home since winter break, you're probably so excited to finally go home. You look back on the week and are so proud of yourself for pushing through. You made it!
After that horrendous experience, you swear you'll never procrastinate again. Yeah, OK. Good joke. Procrastination is a viscous cycle that cannot be stopped no matter how much you try. Best wishes to those who are tirelessly pursuing the way to stop procrastinating. Enjoy your week off and catch up on all the sleep you missed! Only six more weeks EC! You can do it.
