You've seen the tired, tear-stained eyes, the baggy clothes, the unbrushed hair. You've witnessed the terrifying stress screams, the total meltdowns, the quarter-life crises. You're halfway through the semester, midterms are upon you, and it seems as though everyone around you is about five seconds away from a complete mental and emotional breakdown (yourself included).

This, my friends, is what I like to call the "mid-semester slump." Sure, you started off strong: you turned in all of your homework on time and managed to not skip very many classes. You slept well, had fun with your friends, and were so excited to be back in your element with seemingly little responsibilities and tons of parties to attend.

Now, here you are, and before your eyes, your life has managed to fall apart on a low key level. Of course, you'll survive. We all do. But that doesn't make your current suffering any easier. So, why not commiserate together! Here are some typical mid-semester "slumptivities" (see what I did there?) that we can all relate to while crying over a glass of wine and binging three seasons of our favorite Netflix drama.

You find yourself counting down the days/hours/minutes/seconds until the closest break

Because it's REALLY not okay to be away from your pets for that long.

Getting assigned 5 papers, 2 tests, and 15 articles to read all at once, on top of the normal daily torture (oh wait I mean homework?)

And then considering dropping out/changing your major/moving to the Bahamas and having no responsibilities.

Putting off every assignment until the very last minute

And then binge watching an entire season of a show on Netflix because life is super hard.

Taking irrational 15 minute naps because sleep is precious/rare/nonexistent

And always pressing snooze on your morning alarms until the last possible moment.

Never getting dressed up for any class ever (let alone taking a shower...)

And getting into the vicious cycle of skipping a class to do work for a different class.

Your caffeine addiction has reached an entirely new, and terrifying, level

But when all else fails, wine is always the answer.

Although the semester feels like it's flying by, it sort of also feels like it may never end. Yes, the middle of the semester can be traumatizing, but just try to see the light at the end of the tunnel. You will come out of your "mid-semester slump feeling bigger, better, and badder than ever. So slay your day, ace that test, and religiously check your countdown until the next break in order to maintain your sanity.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
