The most frequent question I have been getting asked in the past two weeks is “Are your midterms over yet?”

For me, that answer is no. I do not have a contained period of two weeks or so of hell where once you push through those few weeks you can come up for air. For me, I'm just making my way through the semester on a week by week basis, with a new exam, paper or quiz on the horizon with each page turn in my planner.

So in acknowledgment of this “mid-semester slump” as I am calling it, here are the signs of the times.

1. You procrastinate by doing the easier assignment first.

Okay, well you may have been doing this since the beginning of the year but now it’s especially true since it’s 11:45 pm and you still have that literature review to do but nothing else.

2. The hump of your week comes quicker and lasts longer.

No longer is hump day for Wednesdays only. You start climbing up the hump on Tuesday afternoon and you're not released from it until some point on Thursday.

3. You get ahead of the week.

There is nothing worse than going through your week being one day ahead in your head then what day it actually is. Finding out it’s only Wednesday when you have been thinking it’s Thursday doesn’t help the week go by any faster.

4. Those emails are tended to faster.

It's much easier to delete, sort and reply to the emails that are coming in instead of doing whatever assignment you should be getting done.

5. You get excited when the schedule of classes comes out for the next semester.

What better way to procrastinate the work you have for the classes you are currently taking than to create the ideal schedule for the upcoming semester.

6. Holiday baking starts early…

After all, isn’t the official kick-off to the holidays November 1st? So here, have these pre-thanksgiving cookies I just made because I totally had the time to bake them and nothing else to do.

7. Overall your chocolate or sweets consumption goes up.

If you don’t have time to bake yourself sweets you have time to go out and buy chocolate or gummies or ice cream or some other sweet treat. Because let’s face it, the sweets are what get you through the toughest weeks.

8. You are able to commiserate with everyone about the state of perpetual stress you are in.

No matter where you are with your midterms or just general assignments, the best thing is that there is always someone around on a college campus who has been in your same state of not wanting to do anything, or only being able to function at a semi-productive level. So at least you know that you are not alone in the stress of it all, even though in the moment it may feel like the world is caving in and you are all alone.

So, good luck making it through the rest of the semester with all the business you have going on that is coming at you from school work, jobs, trying to have a social life, and just life in general. There are only 3 weeks until Thanksgiving aka our next break away from it all!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
