Mermaids are real and amazing. I first discovered these real mermaids about a year ago and I have been obsessed ever since. I thought they deserved to be shared with the world.

Although these mermaids are stunningly beautiful, looking pretty is not the only thing they do. These professional mermaids are advocates for ocean life. They educate people about taking care of our oceans, and teach people to respect sea creatures instead of fearing them. Many of them spend lots of their time swimming with these sea creatures. They make incredible videos of this event. Just watching how they swim along with sharks and stingrays is amazing.

Besides having the nerve to swim along with a shark, these mermaids have to be able to hold their breath for long periods of time, sometimes almost five minutes at a time. That takes skill. Along with holding their breath, they also have to swim with tails that can weigh up to 50 pounds out of water, so they have to be able to swim with some extra weight attached to them. These mermaids are extremely talented and work very hard to live their dream.

Beyond having the talents to actually be a mermaid, many of them have other talents associated with their love for mermaids. One of the first Mermaids that I stumbled upon was Raina the Halifax Mermaid. She operates a business and mermaid school along with other Halifax Mermaids that teaches kids how to safely swim like a mermaid. There are also mermaids who make mermaid tails for anyone to buy. Mermaid Kariel has a beautiful line of mermaid tails. You can buy a custom mermaid Tail of Art from her shop.

These mermaids inspire others to follow their dreams. If you've ever dreamed of being a mermaid, a fairy or any other mythical being, then don't think that it's impossible. It might not be the typical path that people take, but that doesn't mean that it can't happen. There are people all over the world who dreamed of becoming a mermaid or a merman and made it happen. Some people may say it's a crazy dream, but really, you never know what could come of it. You'll never know if you don't try.

These mermaids have worked hard to be where they are now. They had a crazy dream, but decided to follow it. These mermaids do their part to teach people about ocean life and what we can do to help. They teach others how to be safe in the water. They provide entertainment for all kinds of events. These people inspire and bring joy to others. Mermaids are very real thanks to these wonderful people.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
