Mental health is a subject often not talked about until a celebrity overdoses due to a suicide attempt and then everyone posts all over social media about how important mental health is. Mental health is an extremely important topic that should be talked about daily.
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), 1 in 5 adults in the United States experience mental illnesses in a given year. That statistic is an extremely large number of the population. That being said, it is completely normal to experience mental disorder symptoms whether it's related to anxiety, depression, or something deeper than that. You're not alone and there is always someone you can reach out to in times of need to cope with your mental health.
Reaching out to friends, family, or possibly a therapist could be the first step to improving your mental health but there are many other things that you could try. Exercising, eating right, and meditating are great ways to improve your mental health. Another great way to improve your health is thinking positive thoughts.
Research shows that thinking positively will boost your health and open your mind up to endless possibilities. Coming from experience, I know how hard it is to think positively when everything in your life seems to be going wrong. Blocking out all the negative thoughts I used to have has improved my mental health in just a short amount of time.
There are some things in life that you can't control. Once you process this concept, taking care of your mental health may become easier. Only you can decide when something is becoming too much. Don't be afraid to do whatever it takes to ensure that your mental health is in a good state even if it means skipping that class or quitting that job. At the end of the day, your life will be exactly where it's supposed to be so make your mental health a priority.
