Everyone has those days where you have so much going on in your head that you just do not even want to muster up the energy to get out of bed and put real clothes on and go to work/school. Sometimes, you just need to take a mental health personal day and unravel all of your thoughts.
Your mental health is just important as your physical health. You can be just as, or even not more impaired by having poor mental health than physical health.
So, lets think about it... Compare how your personality is when you have a cold versus going through a hard breakup or a lot of personal issues. 9/10 your brain is going to be way more frazzled when you have something going on upstairs vs. a little congestion and a runny nose.
You need to be all there up top to be able to successfully complete any task. When you're not at your full potential for your mental health, then you are out of commission. This is why taking a mental health day should be qualified as a sick day. Because when you aren't yourself mentally, you are emotionally drained.
Sometimes, when your mental health is effected, there is just so much racing through your head that you want to burry yourself under your duvet and never come out. Dealing with mental health needs to be taken just as seriously as the flu. Mental health issues are something that people struggle with on a daily basis and have to pretend like they don't have because people say they "aren't real." Newsflash people, try having a panic attack because you haven't been able to decompress and then let me know if you think it's real or not.
So, I'll be taking my mental health day because I, like everyone else, deserve it. Whether you're mentally or physically ill, it shouldn't matter. They should both be counted as sick days, no if ands or buts about it. Take your mental health day and don't let anyone say your mental health isn't important. You're important and so is being in a good emotional state.
