Mega Church Owner Joel Osteen Does Not Care About Flood Victims, Only Money

He is not a man of religion, he is using religion as a vessel to acquire wealth and it is disgusting

America like the rest of the world has churches and religions of all kinds within its borders yet only America has churches and church owners like Joel Osteen. The common name for his kind of religious preaching is "Televangelist" and that refers to a group Christian ministers who devote a large portion of their religious teachings to television broadcasting. Joel Osteen and his mega church are one of the largest names in Televangelist history. The church sees about 52,000 people attend per week. Of course to maintain this number of attendees Joel Osteen needed a pretty big venue. He ended up buying the "Compaq Center" which was previously used as a stadium where the Houston Rockets played. Joel acquired the former stadium in July of 2005 after a payment of 11.8 million in rent in advance for the first 30 years of the lease. However in March of 2010, the Houston City Council voted 13–2 to sell the property to Lakewood for 7.5 million dollars. Then came 95$ million dollars in renovations to remodel the building to his liking.

Not only is his church expensive his house is not cheap either. Joel lives in a mansion that is valued between 2.9 and 10 million dollars. The house itself contains 1.86 acres of land along with six bedrooms, six bathrooms, three elevators and five fireplaces when purchased. It also features a one-bedroom guest house along with a pool house and of course a pool. The average property tax bill per year for this house is around 260,000$. In here lies the problem with Joel Osteen, he only cares about the money.

Religion is hardly a factor here and more of vessel he uses to fill his desires, which makes the case against Joel Osteen even easier. He is an obvious con man from his persona who sees green lights where others see a hope or world view that most would call a religion and he exploits it all day every day for millions. That being said I can not blame religion for this asshole's behavior he is the product of lack of self-control and narcissism from a greedy man with a shitty personality.

I wish to now get to the point and that being the flooding and destruction of Texas because of hurricane Harvey. Currently in Texas especially around the Houston area, where this man lives along with his mega church, is experiencing catastrophic flooding from recent hurricane Harvey.

This man did not open his church to flood victims or even start providing aide until media outlets started pointing it out.

The church then said that it was flooded, later to be discovered as a lie. Now concerned he only begins to think about opening his doors and the church directed people to other shelters via Facebook. This is not a religious individual, this individual is not a caring community member either, he is greedy con man with a fake smile and cash. The world needs to expose this man for who he really is. While religion has its flaws — and by that I mean its creators, not the religious crowd themselves who can either be very nice or violently trying to kill you — really depends where in the world you are and what you believe. Joel Osteen and his religious obligations differs quite a bit from both these scenarios. Joel Osteen instead wants you to watch him, donate to him, or attend his service so he can charge you a 15$ entrance fee so he can come on talk and then invite you back next week to feed you more bullshit.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
