What It's Like Meeting The Pretty Reckless

How our minds work sometimes when we meet celebrities.

Along with being a bar back at Ford's Garage and a musician for Miromar Outlets in Fort Myers, I also work for Beasley Media Group as a Promotions Team Member. Some radio stations underneath Beasley Media Group include 96K Rock, B103.9, 99.3 ESPN, 98.1 La Playa, 106.3 Sunny, and WJPX News Talk. This past weekend, I worked an annual rock festival event called Fort Rock with 96K Rock. I worked this event last year, but this year's event felt a bit different. All the bands that showed up for meet and greets on Day 1/Day 2 and performed on Day 1/Day 2 were all amazing, and all brought generally good vibes to Fort Rock and to their meet and greets, interviews, and signings.

One band in particular, The Pretty Reckless, was awesome to meet. The lead singer, Taylor Momsen, was one of the most down to Earth celebrities I've met in a while. If many of you don't know, Taylor Momsen was also the little girl, Cindy Lou Who, in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". She has definitely grown up quite a bit since that role, and has been cast in many other movies/television shows since then. When I took a picture with The Pretty Reckless, I couldn't walk away without saying something to Taylor, so I told her that she is an insanely amazing vocalist for The Pretty Reckless, and I loved their style and I wish them all a lot more success on their musical journey. She then proceeded to say to me "Dude, thank you so much. You're amazing, good vibes to you, and thanks for being here with us." In all honestly, that made my day because she was so genuine and appreciated the fact that I was willing to be real with her and the rest of the band. If I ever get the chance to meet them again, I would definitely try to talk to her more. Not necessarily in a flirty way, but just to level with her about various things. Based on the small conversation she and I had at the meet and greet tent, she seemed like a person who would be willing to tell you many stories if you're willing to listen. And that's my point with this whole article - people might assume that most celebrities are snotty, stuck up, and want nothing to do with their fans. While many celebrities are this way, there are many others who are not. From my interaction with the Pretty Reckless, they seem to be part of those many celebrities who are not only down to Earth, but celebrities who'd be willing to sit with their fans and talk to them like they are their friends.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
