Coronavirus continues to change our lives every day. But one thing that remains is streaming services, thank goodness.
Unfortunately, you won't find Netflix's "Tiger King" on this list – that's next on my watchlist. So I've been playing catch up with TV shows during the little spare time between work, video games, FaceTime calls and reading that I have. Check out what I've been watching.
"My Hero Academia"
My boyfriend and I fell in love with this anime by accident after my nephews wanted to watch the first episode with me. It's hard for shows to have such a giant cast of characters and make viewers care about all of them, but this show about high school Japanese students with super powers called "quirks" is so engaging with every character they introduce.
"This is Us"
This show premiered while I was in college and had little time on my hands to add another show to my weekly watchlist. Back then I only watch the first three episodes and caught up with major spoilers over time. But on a whim, I started from the beginning and loved some feel-good family drama during this hectic time.
"The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez"
I've been slowly watching this Netflix crime documentary series since a friend recommended it to me. The show follows a case about an 8-year-old boy who was brutally abused for months before he died and the family services system that failed him. It's extremely well done and engaging storytelling, but it's as heavy as it sounds. I can't help but feel bad for poor Gabriel.
"The Masked Singer"
I'm a sucker for this guessing game, and surprisingly they've had a good chunk of well-known celebrities and legendary singers who are unjustly voted off too soon like Dionne Warwick. My personal favorite unmasked contest, so far, is "Dancing with the Stars" host Tom Bergeron. As for the remaining masked singers, I'm rooting for the Kitty because I have no clue who she is.
"Once Upon a Time"
This is one of my favorite TV shows of all time simply because I religiously followed the show weekly and watched it live at any opportunity possible from the pilot episode to the series finale. So ... this is probably my third rewatch. This ABC show follows Emma Swan, the daughter of Prince Charming and Snow White, and a load of other popular fairy tale characters trapped in the Pacific Northwest. It's a fantasy, family drama that instills hope in its viewers with each passing episode. I'll take a heaping serving of that, please!
