During this holiday season, The Odyssey Online at ASU reporters want you to get to know us! Christmas is my favorite time of the year. The bright lights, warm sweaters and overall cheery attitudes are only a couple of reasons why this season really is the most wonderful time of the year.
But one of my favorite family traditions is a cookie baking day. We make dozens and dozens of cookies in one afternoon. There are peanut butter cookies, M&M cookies and festively-shaped sugar cookies that we decorate with icing. But the best cookies of the batch are almond cookies. No contest!
Before anyone starts baking, holiday headbands with Santa hats or reindeer antlers are a must. So I ask, "why stop there?" I love wearing a cozy Christmas sweater or T-shirt to add some cheerful flair. Once the headbands go on, it's game time. Watching my family and I make these cookies is like observing Santa's focused elves working away on a toy assembly line.
Now that Christmas has come and gone, I can't wait for cookie day to roll around again.
Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year!
