The media can be represented in a plethora of ways. One way that it can be represented as is a music video. Demi Lovato in the music video for “La La Land” is being watched for her every move because she is in the limelight from being on television. She wants us to see her this way because she is not given a choice in whether she wants to be followed around.

The message is important because it shows that being in the spotlight is not exactly what it is cracked up to be. The music video tells us that being normal is not an option for celebrities, unfortunately. This comes with being in the limelight though and each celebrity handles it differently.

The video uses images of Demi through photographs to portray that celebrities do not have privacy. She wants fans to know that we as a society are part of the problem by viewing the photographs being taken by the paparazzi that are being paid to take the photograph.

The photographer is flashing his camera lights at her when she is walking down the street holding hands with a mystery man, so the photographer (the media) is invading their privacy.

The presence of this makes the viewer realize that Demi does not get to have any privacy as a celebrity. Most certainly, she can not live a normal life in the spotlight because her life is being documented with every step she takes.

Not being able to have the sense of normality as a celebrity comes with the territory and that part of fame is not what she and other celebrities want to happen.

At the movie premiere in the music video, Demi sings “And who said I can’t be single/And have to go out and mingle/Baby, that’s not me, no, no”; she is crying out to the media about not being allowed to be in a relationship. The media is watching her every move everywhere she is.

She told us that she wants to live her life the way she wants to live it. The media is not letting her have the freedom she would like to have from being in the spotlight. Also, the media is watching her every move at movie premiers and restaurants.

The opening scene when Demi walks by a restaurant with photographers taking pictures of the person that is sitting down captures the feeling of what Demi feels while she is out eating a meal. This is an example of Demi telling us that she wants to live a normal life.

When the photographer is fixing her at the photo shoot, it shows that the media creates the perfect image of Demi through the photos that will end up in a magazine. This is so that she remains above us in society because the media wants us to believe that she is on a pedestal when she is really just normal like us.

The magazine will be looked at by the media once it comes out and she will be criticized by them. Demi sings “Well I’m not gonna change/ In the La La Land Machine”. She does not want the photos being taken of her to reflect something that she is not.

She wants to be seen as a regular human being, which the media does not portray her as when she is on television. In the scene, Demi’s hair is pink and is not her normal brunette color. The color of her hair represents what the media wants her to look like being wild and crazy.

Ultimately, Demi is one piece of the puzzle of our generation through the media. The media has a voice in this music video as well. The celebrity culture is still problematic because celebrities lives are constantly being pried by the media.

Most definitely, the media plays a huge role in their lives. This role leads to the complicated relationship between celebrities and the media because at the media does not realize that celebrities are human just like everyone else in society.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
