Moving states and making a new life for myself lowered my courage to attend a new church and get to know other Christians within my community. Opening my heart and life back up to my Lord and Savior, truly blessed me with new opportunities to find a new church in which I love and getting closer with my faith by putting myself back into the Christian community.
I always thought that attending church every Sunday or going to bible study is what made people the true followers of Christ and overall outstanding Christians. However, I have come to realize that doing all of that is not what makes someone a good Christian. Being a Christian especially in this day and age to me is about spreading the word of Christ and what he stands for and living your life to honor him. Jesus died on the cross, shed his blood for us, took away our sins and worries, not for us to feel obligated to have to attend church to show our love for him but by spreading his name and wisdom for others to hear and hopefully making a difference in their lives by introducing them to God.
Being away at college can be tough on so many levels and keeping up with your faith and worshipping our Lord can seem difficult at times. When I opened my heart and life back up to my faith, my life started changing for the better! Sure, I am still anxious in attending a new church around my college that is not my church back home, but having the advances in technology today allows me to not only watch my church live back home online but get to know the churches around my new community without having to attend each one.
There are so many amazing opportunities for us as Christians today. We have worship songs that we can play anywhere at any time with the touch of our fingers. We have online bible studying to help us break down the bible and get connected to God at our own pace. Small groups to connect with people on a smaller scale without feeling so overwhelmed.
Another thing in which I personally see as a new era for Christianity is that of the view of race, sexuality, relationships, etc.
Being a Christian does not mean that you can not accept the ways of the new world. For instance, individuals who like the same sex. So, many Christian families turn their back on their loved ones over this and do not believe that those individuals who like the same sex can go to heaven or even be loved by Jesus. I believe that this non-acceptance is a ridiculous and false take on what got stands for. God created all of us the exact same way as made to be equals, he created us the way in which he saw fit for us to live and fulfill our lives.
If God did not want same-sex marriage or interracial relationships then he would have made it impossible for us humans to partake in those types of relationships. We are all God's children, no matter your race, sexuality, gender, etc. God made us all the way he intended for us to be. We all have a purpose and as Christians, that purpose, no matter who you are, is to live your life for God and his word and fulfill the life in which he has graced you with.
If we all trust in the Lord and his decisions for us then we can eliminate the hate and discrimination that people show towards one another. We are not to judge others, we are simply to love and accept, that is what the word of God says for us to do. Trust in God that he knew what he was doing when he made every single one of us.
Be kind to one another and find strength through love and your devotion to him to be the Christian that he made you be. And use the technology that we have today to grow in your faith and help to spread God's word.
