I was counting down the hours before my birthday celebrations with my brother and my dogs when my phone alerted me to a social media private message. It was from a friend I had only known through that medium but had conversed with several times about personal matters. What she had to share was not something we had previously discussed.
My friend sent me a screenshot of the man I had divorced in 2017, in a mugshot for Arizona's Apache County Sheriff's Office. The arrest record stated he had been arrested on October 15, 2019, in Concho, Arizona.
My first reaction, I must admit, was validation. Not vindication, but validation.
Three years can seem like forever, at the same time not appearing to be longer than yesterday, where trauma recovery is concerned. I am currently in therapy, weekly, for PTSD.
I have been impressed in an answer to prayer, that I need to forgive my ex-husband for everything and ask him for his forgiveness as well. It takes two people to end a marriage just as it takes two to begin one.
I've written and sent that letter to him in jail.
I do not know anything about the crime for which he is in jail. I wasn't there.
My thoughts are with the child. I can only hope and pray that the child, has access to a good therapist.
