A man in a mask sits to the side,
A painted smile and twinkle in his eye,
The crowd sees him and laughs,
As he entertains,
Hear his laugh like a clown,
Watch him fight and dance,
Listen to him sing and laugh,
To them, he is just a man in a mask.
A man in a mask sits to the side,
A carved smile and sparkle in his eye.
The crowd walks by with a chuckle,
Oh what a jest,
Such a fool is he,
That comes to entertain,
And put himself out to be judged,
Just a man in a mask, is he.
A man in a mask sits by himself,
A pained smile and wink in his eye,
Part of the crowd, he pretends to be,
Though he knows best he is not,
He sits alone,
For as they walk by,
They chuckle and laugh,
But none care for what is inside.
A man in a mask, all alone over there,
Wearing a smile not felt for years,
Loneliness felt by the presence of others,
They only accentuate his pain,
His timer ticks,
His smile clicks,
For as we know,
His time is almost up.
