On February 14th, the United States sat front row to one of the worst tragedies in our nation's history.

17 students at Stoneman Douglas High School were shot and killed due to the actions of a single shooter with an AR-15.

On the morning of March 20th, another school shooting occurred in Maryland at Great Mills High School. The shooter was shot on the scene by police officers, however, he managed to injure two students, leaving one in critical condition.

The shooting at Great Mills is the 17th school shooting in 2018 alone, according to researchers at CNN.

America, it's time for a change.

These tragic events have rallied our nation together in an effort to establish stricter gun laws. However, many Americans don't understand the need for stricter gun laws, and subsequently, find them useless.

Many Americans believe that the March for our Lives demonstration, a protest happening nationwide on March 24th to demand strict gun laws, is an attempt to completely abolish the second amendment that gives Americans the right to bear arms.

This could not be further from the truth.

March for our Lives and those who follow their campaign are advocating for extensive mental health screening before purchasing a gun, moving the age from 18 to 21 to buy a gun, making gun owners wait an allotted time period before receiving the gun after they purchase it, etc.

If you, average America, are a law-abiding gun owner, you have nothing to worry about. You are within your legal rights to own a firearm. However, these laws should be put in place to stop individuals with the intent to do harm to others.

March for our Lives has gained so much momentum due to the recent shootings because the American people are fed up with people dying at the hands of gun violence.

The American people want change now.

America is a democracy; an institution put into place by the people for the people. The citizens of these United States are demanding gun law reform, but it appears that not even a school shooting will motivate our government like keeping money in their pockets.

Our United States government has failed us in one of the worst ways possible, by choosing to keep their political endorsements feeding their wallets rather than work towards preventing another mass shooting, like Stoneman Douglas, from happening again.

Since the United States government continues to disgrace what it means to be a democracy by ignoring the demands of the people, the millennials of this nation will rise up in an effort to voice their demands and make a change.

March 24th will be one of the most monumental days in our nation's history. There will be over 820 protests and demonstrations happening simultaneously over the entirety of the United States. As someone who is proud to be participating in this event, I hope to see our government look past the money they are gaining from big institutions such as the NRA, and begin listening to the needs of the people who put them into office.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
