The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, is simply that: marvelous.

Fast-paced and arriving at just the right time, this show delivers all the goods. Set in the 1950's, the series focuses on Miriam "Midge" Maisel, an Upper West Side housewife with the "perfect" life - a successful husband, two kids, and an elegant apartment.

What more could a girl want?

Well, what more indeed. After her husband chooses to leave her, Midge unearths her talent of stand-up comedy. With bumps and hiccups along the way Midge tries to make it in the comedy scene of late-50's New York, going in and out of clubs in Greenwich Village and even jail, at points.

The quick and witty dialogue of the series, comes as no surprise considering it is written and directed of Amy Sherman-Palladino of "Gilmore Girls". However, what truly pushes this series above the rest is the social boundaries pushed in every episode. The series deals with topics such as women's oppression, social norms, the perfect life manifested deep into that classic, ideal "American Dream". Yet, the fact that the show deals with this issue in a way that is overtly funny laced with lingering afterthoughts about both American society of the 50's and the society of present day.

In this day, it seems nearly ludicrous to think that women would be treated like a social pariah if they were without a man. But, as the series constantly reminds the viewer, that time in American society is not that far away. This harsh truth manifests itself in Miriam's mother and father along with Joel's (her husband) parents, as well.

However annoying or irritating her family's reaction can be to witness, Mrs. Maisel does not let this bring her down. In a truly comedic moment, as yelling and fighting swirls in the air all around Midge she just ups and leaves her own apartment and heads down to the Village, as Greenwich is so lovingly referred to in the show, to do an impromptu stand-up routine.

Each episode Midge's confidence grows as she sheds the ideals that were so tightly forced upon her previously by the age of the time and the society she surrounded herself in. The talented actress, Rachel Brosnahan, breathes new life into the character constantly captivating the attention of the audience like no other.

Along with testing the social norms of the stereotypical 1950's housewife, the series also showcases how the oppression of women in general of the time. After her first stand up, Miriam is arrested for using profane language, a.k.a swear words you hear on every channel in modern day, along with bearing her breasts to the audience. Now, the nudity part is understandable, but as Miriam keeps getting arrested for using "unladylike" language in her comedic bits, it is hard to keep an open mind.

Above all, what makes this show truly worth watching is the combination of all of the above. At the base, it is a story about a woman finding herself and paving her own path in this world, as cheesy as that sounds. But, this show offers so much more. It offers humor and thought on topics that seem over with, such as women's oppression and the chasing of the "American Dream", showcasing how although it is set in the 1950's there are some things that haven't changed as much as they could have. Or more accurately, as much as they should have. Without a doubt in my mind, the 8 episodes of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel are truly not only binge-worthy but second-viewing worthy. Amy Sherman Palladino has done it again.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
