The start of March has many students filled with the dreaded mid-semester blues. Spring Break promises relief, but it being only a week makes the time-out from college seem fleeting. The common, but still plaguing disease of Senioritis has seniors doubting if it’s even worth it. Times look bleak and the end of the tunnel seems no where in sight. Are you too feeling this way? Here are 5 ways to combat the mid-semester blues.
- Reorganize. Write out a timeline of major assignments and goals to visualize how you’ll get through the semester. Plan out study nights with friends and/or your Greek Life family, and then prepare to execute said plan.
2) Recharge. Use Spring Break to give yourself some major R & R. Lord knows you deserve it. Put on some relaxing ocean sounds music, or perhaps the sounds of a waterfall, and breathe out negativity so you can breathe in only good vibes. Light some lovely scented candles or try some yoga and you’ll be set to succeed!
3) Have a laugh. Put on your favorite funny, feel-good movie or listen to your favorite comedian and destress.
4) Volunteer. Giving back makes you feel great and the world could use a lot of love right now. Play with puppies at the Humane Society, serve food at a homeless shelter, or pack food at the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank. Volunteering can even be as simple as getting your friend their favorite snack when they’re having a rough day.
5) Write it out. Write an angry letter to your stress. Write some poetry. Write a song. Write anything that will get your stress onto that piece of paper, and as a result, out of your head.
