Why March Madness Is So Relateable

It became our lives because it represents our lives

Some people see March Madness as just a silly basketball tournament that no one can ever predict. Our lives are the same way we can't predict what is going to happen. So here is how March Madness represents our lives.

1. The Underdog Beats The Big Dog

We saw the Retrievers (UMBC) beat the overall number 1 seed, Virginia, during the first week of the tournament. Virginia blatantly lost the game. That is the first time in Men's NCAA basketball history that a 16 seed beat a number 1 seed. This shows us that the Underdog will win. And that as we go through life when we feel like the Underdog we still have a chance. Don't let your status get you down.

2. No One Actually Knows What's Going On

You can calculate every statistic you want to try to predict who is going to win each game but no matter what as soon as the teams take the court anything can happen, and we all just get to sit back and watch. Just like in the game of life as soon as we start a new game or challenge all the statistics go out the window and we don't know what is going to happen until the end.

3. #TeamNoSleep

Everyone stays up late watching the games and then we realize we have homework and stay up all night long. Lifes the same way we never really sleep when we are busy or stressed or just addicted to Netflix.

4. When Grandma Is By Your Side You Always Win

Nuff Said! Also, Love You Gmommy!

5. You Have To Make Your Free Throws

You don't get many free shots in basketball so you have to make all the free points you can in order to get ahead. You have to make them. Take advantage of all the free points, free food, and free time you have in life. You can't miss out on things that are free and will help you. You don't get many of those chances.

6. The Last 5 Minutes Are Your Last Chance To Make A Come Back

Take your shots while you can and don't let your time run out. The last five minutes still mean you have time to make a change and come back. It also means that your chances are limited to take them while you can.

7. Expect To Be Upset

Life and basketball are full of upsets so don't expect a perfect game. Don't expect to have a perfect day. Understand that there are good and bad days, just like there are wins and losses.

8. No Matter What You Are Facing Give It 110%

If you don't give it your all then you will never get a good result back. You have to give each and every day the most you can give it or you will never win. You have to give each game all that you can or you shouldn't expect to win!

9. It's Ok To Miss A Shot,... or 10

We all mess up and that's ok! Missing shots is normal and completely ok. We all mess up! What matters is how we recover from those missed shots. Don't let them get you down, learn from your mistakes and move on.

10. Quitting Isn't An Option

You don't get to deny an invitation to the NCAA tournament, so you can't deny your invitation from life. So you can't give up on it.

11. Taking A Time Out Is Ok

We all need a break some time off. Take a timeout and breathe for a little when you need to. No one will judge you. Watch netflix, get some water and just relax. It'll help you bunches.

12. Stay Hydrated

Water literally keeps you alive.

13. Don't Underestimate Your Opponent

We never know what is coming at us, so never underestimate the challenge you are facing. Everything is hard so don't think it'll ever be an easy shot.

14. A Loss Doesn't Me You Lost

It's all perspective. If you gave it your all and you still lose than you won in your heart. And that's what matters.

15. It Never Goes As Planned

Nuff Said. @everyone who has studied hard for a test then failed it.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
