Manifest Destiny - the 19th-century doctrine or belief that the expansion of the U.S. throughout the American continents was both justified and inevitable.

Key word here: inevitable.

Each day births new opportunities. What you do with these opportunities is completely up to the way you conduct yourself. Not one single day goes by that you don't have the chance to be great. Nonetheless, we shy away from potential, and lament on the harsher realities.

One thing that I believe is that we have the power to move things in our lives to existence. We have the power to choose a path, but how we execute this will determine the rate of success. If you wake up in the morning and have a bad attitude, you are more than likely going to have a bad day. But if you wake up in the morning and expect blessings, blessings often follow.

Having a plan, a mindset, goes hand in hand with our words. We constantly plan for situations that could blow up in our face, and orientate ourselves to counter that, to overcome. So if you have an array of tasks and responsibility for the day, and you prepare for potential disaster, disaster will follow. But guess what? That's the wrong way to live life. We need to plan for BLESSINGS, not for hardships.

Maybe the reason that life doesn't go our way sometimes is because we fail to prepare for the good. We stay reserved and on the defensive, watching our backs for the next trial life may throw at us.

I noticed this in simple daily events within my own life. If my attitude for the day starts off negatively, the rest of the day is usually horrible. But if I have faith that the day will be great, I am enthralled in a realm of happiness.

Speak things to existence. Believe that they will turn out the way you envision them. Do not envision them in a negative light.

We can all alter our own futures, our own destinies. It all depends on our attitude, our declarations, and our actions. We pave the way now for what we will become, how our lives will play out. We are fools to not do everything in order to prepare for a life of greatness.

Think about it this way. Manifest destiny right? Inevitable. The people of America KNEW that we would spread across the land, populating the western part of the country. They knew it before it even happened. It was unmistakably a fact in their minds that it would occur. So they accomplished what they already knew to be true. Set your mind to something you KNOW will happen for the better in your life, instead of planning for the obstacles that may lessen the possibility of your dream. Make that dream inevitable. Make it your Manifest Destiny.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
