If you’re like me, it’s finally your senior year in college and you feel like time has flown by and you haven’t done everything you want to. You haven’t gone to all the delicious Austin restaurants people have recommended throughout the years—the ones you put down in the notes section on your phone, reminding you to take advantage of their bomb happy hour—yeah you know what I’m talking about.

You haven’t made enough of a conscious effort to find random and fun events that are advertised on Facebook—like the black light slide event or Ladies Night at some cool lounge downtown. But hey, better late than never, am I right?

In order to make the most of my last semester, over the Christmas break, I took it upon myself to do some research and find events and activities I want to do during my last months here on the Forty Acres. Here is a list of the ones I came up with:

1. In Brunch We Trust

The Alamo Drafthouse has monthly screening events where they show a classic movie on a Sunday and offer a special mimosa menu to all attendees. So, gather your girls and don’t miss out on the classics like, How To Lose a Guy In Ten Days and Pretty Woman.

2. Finish what you started and channel your inner foodie

Take out that list and cross off the restaurants you’ve gone to and make it a priority once or twice a month to visit one of the restaurants you haven’t had the chance to experience happy hour at ;) Ps: this new restaurant Alcomar (Latin and seafood inspired) does happy hour every day!!

3. Check out a different side of Austin—the East Side!

I recently came across this place called Revelry. Revelry is an event production studio and venue. It hosts a ton of fun gatherings like: socials, markets, and even cocktail workshops! Last semester I attended their Fall Cocktail Workshop with one of my best friends and my dad, and let me tell you—it was a blast! Totally worth venturing out into an unfamiliar part of Austin.

4. Go to more sports games

I absolutely love basketball and honestly, shame on me! I haven’t made enough of an effort to attend more games and support our Longhorns. Not okay. This semester, I am making it a point to attend as many basketball games as I can. As a matter of fact, my dad is coming down to visit soon and he just bought us tickets to attend the game against Ole Miss—so stoked!

5. Check out new bar scenes and nightclubs!

Apparently, the Domain’s nightlife is super fun and tons of people like to check it out every once in a while. People can’t stop raving about the Rose Room—this new night club that has incredible music where you are guaranteed a great night! Grab your girls...and your guys, and go dance your butt of on that dance floor. They even have Latin nights! Sometimes we need a little change from the usual Dirty 6th Street!

It’s your last semester, so make the most of it—they weren’t kidding when they said these years fly by and you only get to experience them once!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
