Starting out at a new job is always a bit stressful, and confusing because you don't know anyone or much of anything, and you're frankly just afraid of making an idiot out of yourself. The strangest thing about starting a job is there is always was more to know and do than what is in the job description, so who else to help you along the way that your new fellow co-workers.
Days, weeks, and months pass and you really start to get the hang of everything, you have a routine, and you're officially one of the crew. Before you know it you're the person training new people, and talking about how much you're dreading your shift the upcoming weekend, complaining about what a customer said to you, and soon enough you get close enough to where you talk about relationship family drama.
Work becomes a hangout spot for you and your "co-workers" to catch up and try to plan when you can hang out outside of work. I remember always hoping to get to work with certain people, who are now some of my closest friends, and the best people in my life.
It is true I had to learn a lot more things than what was in the job description, but one thing that was unexpected was to gain some of the best friends I've ever had. Here I was thinking a job is just a job until it became more than a job, it became one of my favorite places (most of the time).
This is a special thank you to my co-workers for being not only co-workers, but friends, and making work life so much easier as well as real life. People usually come and go as they please with jobs, but for me, this one will forever mean the most thanks to all of you.
I know we are all different ages, from five, ten, fifteen, and even 20 years apart, but if the age is just a number saying ever truly meant something, it does in this situation. I would never have imagined hanging out with someone who is my age, ten years older than me, and 20 years older than me at any point in my life unless I was at a family party, but the funny thing about that is many of you now feel like family to me.
Let's be honest... nobody wants to work, but everyone needs money. Every long and awful shift, every rude customer, every day I came in sick, or any time I was feeling down, it was all worth it because, without all of that, I would have never of met such wonderful people as you.
So thank you to you all, if I could give us all raises for the awesome people you are, believe me, I would. Even if one day we all have different jobs, I hope you know that you're my forever favorite co-workers, and forever friends.
