We're now a couple weeks into the New Year and everyone is trying to stick to their New Year's resolutions. As usual, we saw those proclaiming their resolutions, while some said things like "new year, same me." However, this year I did see some social media posts about how this year was a "new year, new me" kind of year, as previous years hadn't been what some had expected.
For me, I've always said this new year I'll finally stick to a healthy diet and an exercise routine, and while I do for a few months or weeks, I eventually end up missing a day which usually puts an end to that. This year I have said that I will be cliché and work towards a healthier diet and healthier lifestyle, but that's not my main goal for this new year.
This New Year's I decided that I was going to make the year what I wanted it to be. I won't complain that my year isn't going as well as I would want it to be because it's up to us what kind of year we will have. If I want good things to come to me this year, I have the capability to bring that upon myself. I mean yeah, life is going to throw me some curveballs, but I just have to get back up and keep moving. The world sucks sometimes and life can be a struggle, but we get what we put in. Hard work does pay off.
Sometimes we have to be selfish when making decisions. To make this year a good one, I have to focus on myself sometimes too. Negative people who just bring me down are of no use to me. I don't have time to chase friends or partners who may or may not care about me.I don't want to spend my time wondering if I'm good enough to be around certain people. If you care, you'll show it and I won't have to question it. Those are the kinds of people who always drag you down.
The year can be mine if I make it mine. You can do it too. Things happen, sure, but you make your decisions. You are the one who can make or break your new year. 2018 will be my year, what about you?
