While all of us were planning our trips to Canada and worrying about our country's future and what will happen to minorities under the incoming Trump administration, major things have been happening around the world. It seems like every news update I get is about Trump and who he has picked for his dangerously awful cabinet so far. Here are a few things, good and bad that have happened while the media has been talking about nothing but Trump.
1. How Australia is Dealing with the Migrant Crisis
Australia is like the "anti-Germany". They are shipping their small migrant population (only around 181 migrants, compared to the millions that Germany has taken in) to an island where migrants live in a prison- like environment. They also turn away many of the migrant boats that come to Australia. Many of the migrants have shown signs of mental illnesses like depression due to the terrible environment they live in.

2. South Korea's President
They're currently undergoing the impeachment process because the President has been consulting her cult friend about top secret government policies. You read that right. She's also the first woman President and the daughter of a former President who held an almost dictatorship. Her friend is a cult leader and they have known each other since they were very young. There were huge protests when this news broke.
3. DAPL
It is tragic that most of us only heard about the protest in Standing Rock against the pipeline because of Shailene Woodley and the following support from other famous celebrities. But the success (rerouting is successful) shows the power and pressure social media has.
4. Netflix added a downloadable feature
What everyone doesn't know is that Amazon Video ( available for Prime members) already has this feature. But who watches Amazon video anyway? Now we can bring our Black Mirror obsession on the go!
5. Tomi Lahren visits the Daily Show
This isn't that major; it's just funny. It solidified and proved to all of us just how capable Trevor Noah is as Jon Stewart's replacement. He was so calm and logical as she angrily condemned the Black Lives Matter movement and compared them to the KKK.
6. Amazon introduced its new grocery shop
Amazon seems to be starting a revival in brick and mortar shops, which is ironic for the online retailer. Amazon is planning on opening a grocery shop where you just grab what you want and go. You don't need to wait in line at all. It will take a while for this to be widespread across the country, but its a cool concept and preview about the future.
7. Miami is Zika-Free...
Of locally transmitted Zika, that is... That means that all of Florida is free of locally transmitted Zika. Florida can officially reopen its tourism sector, which took a big hit during the Zika paranoia. Read here for more information:

8. Venezuela is still in Turmoil
The world's problems are still going on, despite our current distraction with the President- elect. If you don't know what's going on, Venezuela is in chaos thanks to their dictatorship and corruption. Their economy is so weak that neighboring countries won't lend them money or trade with them. Poverty and starvation are daily worries in addition to crime and murder.
